Bariatric Surgery: Why Not Acceptance in Society?
Obesity is a gift of the modern age. Due to the changing lifestyle and many other reasons, the alarm bell of obesity has started ringing in the society today. There is a saying in Ayurveda similar to our fifth Veda "Stomach is the root of diseases". Weight loss will be followed by fatigue and constant tiredness.

If you look at it like this, no one likes a fat body and only the simplest weight loss experiments are playing in the mind of that person. Yet even a moderate person cannot lose weight for many reasons and as a result faces many personal, social and economic problems. In such cases bariatric surgery is a boon. Yet even in today's technological age, people still do not agree with this. There are still many misconceptions in the society about this process.
At first, there was a perception in the minds of the people that weight gain is possible soon after bariatric surgery, but in most cases, recurrent weight gain is the result of an uncontrolled and sedentary lifestyle. Second, the post-operative weight gain rate is much lower so that the medical benefits of weight loss remain intact.
Many also believe that bariatric surgery can lead to many deficiencies in vitamins and minerals, but following a proper diet does not cause such problems. Another misconception is that weight loss surgery is a cosmetic type of surgery that is a product of the fashion world. But it is also an indispensable treatment for patients with severe obesity (who weighs more than 45 kg more than their ideal weight), in order to prevent other complications.
There is a belief that women have problems with pregnancy after this operation and it affects the health of the baby, this belief is totally wrong. After weight loss, women usually conceive and give birth to a healthy baby. Conversely weight loss increases the chances of conceiving and thus becomes a treatment for infertility.
There are many therapies to reduce obesity, such as diet control, exercise without guidance, etc., but they do not realize that all these activities are harmful to their body. The best treatment for obesity, if any, is bariatric surgery, through which a person loses weight and maintains it for a long time.
Thus, from an overview, it can be concluded that following proper medical advice, bariatric surgery can avoid future complications and lead to a healthier and longer life. Someone has rightly said, "I saw the disease and the enemy grow and subdue."
