Health - Winoba Bhave
Diseases are on the rise in the society due to triad. The first fault is lack of nutrition. So it is the duty of the whole world to solve the food problem. The second fault is arbitrariness, incontinence. Whether it is drama, cinema or literature, it is so dirty that in such a situation it becomes difficult to keep the mind pure. Spontaneity will lead to many diseases. The third fault is air pollution. Garbage is increasing in the rivers. So much so that when some rivers got into the sea the sea got worse. How many fish escaped, how many died. The vegetation became dirty. The air is polluted. So various diseases increased.
Mankind has suffered from many diseases since time immemorial. But before, there was no such complaint by such a large number of doctors that new diseases, of which we had no knowledge, were on the rise. Old diseases and new diseases go hand in hand. As the number of doctors increases, so does the number of diseases. As science progresses, so does the number of doctors. It is assumed that the ratio of population to doctors should be 100: 1. If that happened then it would be a curse. My suggestion is that if there is one doctor per ten thousand people in the five year plan period, then in the coming plan period this ratio should be one doctor per one lakh people and in the next plan period one doctor per one lakh people.
Don't be sick if you become a yogi. Where there is yoga in life, there will be health. What does it mean to be a yogi? A balanced diet, proper rest, adequate sleep, proper work and not getting angry at anyone. The commentator uses the word 'health' to express the meaning of happiness, which is appropriate. The word 'health' includes both physical and mental health. According to Vedic scriptures, physical health means equality of mind and peace of mind. The word 'health', which is a collector of both meanings, can be considered as a proper synonym of 'happiness'. Happiness means raga-hatelessness, cleanliness, purity. It can also be a symptom - ‘the only thing that makes you miserable is happiness.’ Someone's son has died. So he became depressed. Nowhere does his mind stick. He went and sat by a spring. The mind calmed down. That quality is the purity of the spring. Purity is self-propagating. Its effect is slight. It is definitely a pleasure to watch it.
People also want good health. But it is written in our Ayurveda Shastra that ‘for attaining God, the intellect must be pure. For the intellect to be pure, the body must be pure. This is the beginning of good Ayurveda to keep the body clean. ' If health and pure energy are counted in spiritual matters, then such an endeavor should last till the last breath. Then that effort will become a part of life without effort. It is my belief that when the lifeblood flies away, it will fly away in good health. Spiritual life is inherently healthy. Instinct also seems to be unaffected by achieving true health. And the instincts of the body seem to manifest health. So health should be considered not only a physical or gross thing but also a spiritual and subtle thing. In the Gita, it is said in the characteristics of Sattvaguna that it increases knowledge and health. It is worth noting here that this is the double consequence of the same Sattva. Knowledge, health and sattvicism are all one from within. Health is not achieved by mere physical defecation. The feces of both mind and body should be purified. Then knowledge is gained.
Sattvaguna is characteristic. Characteristic human beings must be intelligent, not expected. No one seems to be insisting that it must be healthy. But in the view of the Gita, since character, knowledge and health are all obtained as a result of purity, they must be in Sattvaguna. Where one of these three is lacking, it should be understood that Sattvaguna has not flourished so much. Sattvaguna is the result of body health, body is the result of kindness-forgiveness-peace and intellect is the result of curiosity of truth.
The power to get rid of one disaster is not in another disaster. That requires wealth. There is a feeling that a disease can be cured and instead of producing a worse disease or sowing its seeds, it is not good. This idea is at the root of natural healing. Naturopathy says that where we treat with artificial medicine, one disease disappears, or let's say it is suppressed and another disease takes the form of an outbreak. Then the new disease is cured anew. Thus a series of treatments is formed. The patient stays sick forever and death alone cures him. Natural remedies destroy the seeds of disease by creating health in the body. So that the patient is transformed into a yogi. But the impatient, quick-release seeker seeks intense medicine in the hope of an immediate result. Nowadays he is the one who says to the doctor: ‘Give me an injection.’ There is a special place for natural cure in the life plan of Sarvodaya. Mild fevers go away without diet, without dietary changes. Gandhiji taught us that taking the name of God is the greatest medicine that many great men have tried.
Let us not forget that God's plan is to make everyone completely self-sufficient. The instrument of knowledge is given to all, food is given to the digestive power, perfect body is given to the soul, air and water are present for all. Therefore, showing the remedy for fever must also be given to Sahu. Also, there is no need to rely too much on plants. Soil-water treatment can be done. Excellent air can be treated. Light can be cured. In such Vedas, worship of God of Creation is shown in many ways. And said how much water is used in the treatment of diseases, how much use is made of sunlight. We should also keep in mind that our whole body is made up of this universe. The things that are in the body are present in the universe. If there is water outside then there is blood etc. in the body. If there is Suryanarayana outside then there is eye in the body. If there is air outside then there is breath in the body. Even the gold ore that is outside is present in our body, that is, the metals that are in the blood etc. in our body also contain iron, copper and gold. When the body itself is made up of this universe, the earth, water, light, air, sky are the things that can be cured very fearlessly, with love, if we use them, many diseases can be cured. In this way the science of natural medicine should be taught from village to village.
My own firm belief is that God cannot have the slightest desire for man to fall ill. He has given all things to man. It also gives hunger. This means that working for hunger is a command of God. But man does not want to work and wants to eat. He also wants to eat more than he is hungry. But if we live a good natural life and decide to make a living by working hard, you will see that the disease will go away.
I was in jail at the time of Zanda Satyagraha in 1923. At that time a doctor from Karnataka was also in jail. I read Vagbhat with them. Then I started reading 'Charak'. It has a vision that is not found in any other health text in the West. He says that the human body is the instrument of liberation. That instrument should be kept sacred. Secondly, if a disease is incurable, the patient should be prepared for death rather than suffering without any reason. One should sit next to him and recite Vishnu-Sahasranama. It is possible that the disease will be removed by reciting the name Vishnu Sahastra, and if it does not occur, the patient will die peacefully due to the remembrance of God. It is in the scriptures not to take medicine without a reason. The third thing is not to give medicine immediately after getting sick. Have a two-three day snack, take an enema and observe. Fourth thing, Panchkarma. In today's language, Panchkarma means natural healing. It says nutrition as well as transgression. Fifth thing, Ritucharya. Changing the diet according to the season. In addition, the scripture has also given much importance to diet. Why do patients need to take medicine if they follow a diet? And if the patient does not follow the diet, what is the benefit of taking medicine?
The doctor should be a spiritual teacher for the sick. Vagbhat writes: How to enter the doctor's patient's room? Half of the patient's disease should be removed just by seeing his smiling face, excellent health, happy face. Saying this, seeing the features of Vagbhat Vaidya, I remembered the features of Gita's stagnation. Doctors should have such symptoms as snacking, control over the tongue, balance in work, keeping the mind happy, heart full of compassion but not sad, happy. I cannot claim that the good development of medicine in our country was anything but unique or perfect. But the medicine that is needed for our country should be found in the plants here. The medicine here has researched the vegetation here and that is our job. Although incomplete, not complete. We have a very old plant that we don't even know yet. That's all we have to do research. It is the duty of the country to be self-sufficient in medicine as well as in our food and clothing. From that point of view, the work that can be done with Ayurveda can never be done with Allop. India cannot depend on outside medicine. The medicine here will work here. Village gardens and essential herbs are grown there. One acre of medicinal garden per 500 population is sufficient. The need is to have someone who knows the flora.
Treatment sequence: The first thing is to prevent the disease from occurring. To carry out as many remedies as there are for it. Developing a natural lifestyle. Train and spread it. And natural remedies if sickness arises anywhere. To use herbs growing in the village on special need. In that sense, Ayurveda is important. Thus first of all natural life is important. Another important is natural healing. The third important is Ayurveda. Ayurveda is followed by homeopathy. It is better to take a pure medicine than to give a combination of several medicines. Hence my respect for homeopathy. Then comes Allop. So some special medicine has an immediate effect on Moka. So we can't leave it. The method of allopathy etc. has come from the west. He says that if the body is healthy then you can enjoy the world. If not then no. There is such a difference between Ayurveda and Allopathy. The purpose of allopathy is to enhance the enjoyment of body health. The victim causes the disease. Because it does not have the concept of purity. The Upanishads show a life span of 116 years:
Lord Krishna passed away at the age of 116 years. He spent 24 years in Gurugriha before him. Remaining 24 to 68 years in karma and subsequent last 48 years in microcosm. God spent his whole life after 68 years in meditation. Undoubtedly must enter the microcosm after 68 years.
